Turkey is now well established as a golf destination. The excellent climate, high standards of service and accommodation, good value for money and a fantastic range of international courses have put Turkey firmly on the map for golf tourism. Turkey was awarded ‘Best Golf Destination in Europe 2008’ by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO).
At the heart of Turkish golf is the resort of Belek on the Mediterranean coast, just 30kms from Antalya. After the first course opened here in 1994 Belek has established itself on the international golf circuit with nine top class courses with a further three in the planning stages. Nick Faldo, Colin Montgomerie and Bernard Langer are the latest world-famous names to have designed and opened courses in Turkey. This follows Klassis Golf and Country Club in Istanbul, designed by Tony Jacklin.
Turkey can also boast it’s very own links course. LykiaLinksGolf Antalya a first in Turkey as well as the Southern Meditterranean, is located directly by the sea. It is one of the very special golf courses for professionals known as “Links Course” which takes advantage of nature’s texture. Only 300 of the 36,000 golf courses worldwide are links courses.
