Istanbul is Turkey’s most populous city and the cultural and financial centre of Turkey.  Located on both sides of the Bosphorus, the narrow strait between the Black sea and the Maramara sea, Istanbul is the only city in the world that sits on two continents – Europe and Asia.  With a population of around twelve million, it is also one of the biggest cities in the world.

With it’s long history at the centre of empires, Istanbul places of interest are both historic and religious.   The Istanbul must see’s are the Hagia Sophia church, Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque.  All of these are situated in Sultanahmet – old city.

No trip to Istanbul would be complete without visting the Grand Bazaar, said to be the world’s oldest shopping mall.  Housing around 4400 shops lined along covered walkways and a labyrinth of side streets, you can get lost in the bustling Istanbul Grand Bazaar for a good half a day.

The nightlife in Istanbul is extremely varied and caters for all tastes.  From intimate restaurants and bars to bigger more popular Istanbul tourist places such Cheers Istanbul.  If you want to experience the higher end of Istanbul nightlife, Big Budhha and Sortie are two of the finest late night haunts in Istanbul.

Property in Istanbul is varied and caters for all budgets.  Now is the ideal time to invest in property in Istanbul due to demand for mortgages and a rapidly growing population.  Whether looking for a lively city bolt hole or a villa on the banks of the Bosphorus, Istanbul has the ideal property for investment.

Istanbul is the European Capital of Culture for 2010.  The projects that will be realised will demonstrate that Istanbul, the symbol of Turkey, has been interacting with European culture for hundreds of years.  New museums will be established and historical buildings will be renovated and opened to the public.  Being selected as a European Capital of Culture will give a boost to the city’s economic relations with Europe as well as its cultural relations.
