Turkey: Thomas Cook to boost Turkish tourism in Oger Tours acquisition
On Monday, the Thomas Cook Group announced the acquisition of Oger Tours, a well-known Turkish-owned tour company operating in Germany and specializing in tours to Turkey, in a deal worth around EUR 30 million.
The Oger brand and the company’s Hamburg headquarters will remain, while Oger will join the supervisory board of Thomas Cook’s German branch. Thomas Cook’s CEO Manny Fontenla-Novoa said the acquisition will further boost its presence in Turkey, a strategically important destination for all of the company’s European markets.
Oger Tours’ founder Vural Oger said his company and Thomas Cook will work together to further develop Turkey’s potential as a tourist destination.
