At the First Trade Counsellors Conference in Ankara, Mr Zafer Caglayan, Turkey’s Foreign Trade Minister, announced Turkey’s exports are on target to reach 132 Billion USD before the end of 2011 noting Turkey’s exports were already 41 Billion USD in the period from 1st January to 22 April.
Caglayan went on to say the 2011 export performance will be “another milestone” on the road to reaching 500 Billion USD of exports from Turkey by 2023.
Caglayan said Turkey exported 114 Billion USD in 2010 which was up 12 Billion USD from 2009.
Turkey’s exports peaked at 132 Billion USD in 2008 before the effects of the global financial crisis were felt with a drop in the European markets being particularly noticeable.
