The well known if not semi-famous Gazipasa airport welcomed its long awaited first international commercial flight at the end of last month. A Transavia Boeing 737 landed from Holland at around 21:00 on the 27th of April, following 2 triumphant pass-overs. The event was a joyous celebration, with the fire brigade creating a water arch, and the passengers being greeted by Turkish music and dance by local children.
Officials from TAV, the mares of Alanya and Gazipasa and tour operator Neckermann and Thomas Cook, the main drivers of the airport’s recent successes were also there to greet the passengers of this historic flight.
The Gazipasa airport will now almost certainly be a driver of growth in the Alanya property market. Alanya is one of Turkey’s top tourist destinations already, and home to the largest population of British expats n the country. With tourists and property buyers now having to travel only 10 minutes from the airport, as oppose to 90 minutes, this can only lead to the area’s popularity surging.
“We where there just to enjoy the fact that all rumours can be binned as of now and looking forward that airlines in Germany will sign contracts with Gazipasa/Alanya as soon as possible so that we can book our flights from Frankfurt /Germany to Gazipasa/Alanya paradise more often. Then it makes even sense to fly for a long weekend to Turkey,” a spokesperson for the firms in attendance told reporters.
