Turkish Airlines aims to be one of the world’s top ten airlines by 2023, the year which will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey.
Speaking recently, Mr Hamdi Topcu, the Chairman of Turkish Airlines, said “We want Turkish Airlines to become one of the top 10 airlines in the world with global connections and direct flights to all points,” said Mr Topcu. “We are planning to make Istanbul a hub for international flights and make Turkish Airlines a crucial cargo carrier.”
Turkish Airlines which carries about 25 million passengers a year to 126 international and 37 internal destinations declared a net profit of 189 Million USD for 2010. Turkish Airlines continues to grow with the first quarter of 2011 year on year passenger numbers up 8.7 percent.
Turkish Airlines is a major sponsor of Manchester United and Barcelona football teams.
