6 July 2011 The Banker magazine’s report “Top 1,000 World Banks” has rated 3 Turkish banks in the top 25 global banks for return on capital.
In 6th place in the world was the Turkish Government owned Halk Bank followed by Ziraat Bank at 9th place, also Turkish Government owned, and in 22nd place was the private sector was Garanti Bank.
The report stated the 3 Turkish banks combined capital/asset ratio as being 7.6 Percent compared with average of 5.3 Percent.
The report also went on to say the most profitable are mainly in the emerging markets with Indonesia and China joining Turkey.
