Another day another dollar and another week another new flight for Istanbul airports. This week we see the announcement of another new budget flight linking Manchester in the UK and Istanbul from growing operator Jet 2.com.
This is Jet2.com’s first flight into Istanbul, all though it does have substantial coverage of Turkey, with a particularly large coverage of Bodrum and Dalaman. The airline flies to Bodrum and Dalaman from East Midlands airport, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, and to Dalaman from Newcastle and Glasgow. The new Istanbul flight will run on Tuesday and Fridays from March 16 2012 and at fares starting from £71.99.
Looking through Jet2’s coverage of Turkey is rather interesting. You hear far more about the growth of Istanbul’s airports, both in terms of passenger traffic and increasing coverage, yet we can clearly see that Jet2 has far more coverage of Dalaman and Bodrum, which is obviously because they have more demand for these areas. However, this does indicate that demand for Istanbul is increasing.
It is interesting that Jet2 would have so much more demand for flights to Bodrum and Dalaman than Istanbul, but what is even more interesting is the dominance of Bodrum and Dalaman in their coverage. This would seem to indicate that Bodrum and Dalaman are leading the pack in terms of low budget tourism to Turkey from the UK.
