Turkish Airlines flying high

20 December 2011, Istanbul – According to Turkish Airlines General Manager Temel Kotli, the airline has had a very successful 2011 and will add 10 new global destinations in 2012 as well as adding 18 new aircraft to fleet of 178 aircraft. “The new destinations to be added until the New Year will make THY the world’s 7th largest airline company” said Kotil adding “Currently, THY flies to 190 destinations over the world, with 16 new routes added within 2011. THY fleet has also grown considerably, with the addition of 24 new aircrafts during the year” Commenting on Turkish Airlines performance Kotli said “The sales revenue of the company during the first nine months of 2011 has gone up 35 percent to reach TRY 8.5 billion (approx. USD 4.4 billion). We intend to reach USD 7.1 billion in turnover by the year-end”. Turkish Airlines carried almost 30 million passengers in 11 months which was an 11.7 percent increase over the corresponding period in 2010. Source: Invest in Turkey
