3 January 2012, Ankara  – The man who coined the phrase BRIC economies the world renowned economist and Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management Mr Jim O’Neill predicts the next 10 years will see another set of emerging powers including Turkey taking over. In a recent interview O’Neill said “If a new G-8 was to be formed today by judging the countries’ economic standing in place of political influence, I would recommend adding Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea and Turkey alongside the BRICs for that organisation”. O’Neill went on to say “Turkey will be one of the most influential states of the next decade in terms of its contribution to the global economy. Istanbul is one of the most exciting and interesting cities of Europe, if not the world” adding that European nations should be in favour of Turkey’s EU accession. Source: Invest in Turkey
