Turkey’s increases renewable wind power capacity

Istanbul, 7 February 2012 – According to the European Wind Energy Association Turkey’s new wind farms added 470 MWs of electricity capacity in 2011, added to Turkey’s existing wind power capacity this took the total to near 1,800 MWs a 36 percent increase. This extra production takes Turkey into the top 10 wind energy producers in Europe behind the two leading European wind energy producers Spain and Germany. Because of Turkey’s rapidly increasing economic output the country aims to generate 20,000 MWs from wind farms by 2023 the year of the Republic of Turkey’s centenary. Source: Invest in Turkey
