Istanbul, 21 February 2012 – At a recent launch ceremony Vodafone Turkey’s Chief Technology Officer, Jorge Fernandes, has said that Vodafone is to make Turkey its regional HQ for its Middle East and North Africa operations. At the opening ceremony of Vodafone’s new network operation centre in Istanbul, Fernandes said “Vodafone is carrying out studies to move the management of its Middle Eastern and North African markets to Turkey. These developments are very important for Turkey to become a regional centre for Vodafone”. Also speaking at the opening ceremony Tayfun Acarer, Head of Turkey’s Information and Communication Technologies Authority, said Turkey expects a 75 times increase in data traffic over the next 5 years adding “More network investments are necessary to accommodate increased data traffic in the near future”.
