Edinburgh airport has made the industry headlines this week because it has been bought by an as yet unknown consortium. However, that is not the only news relevant to us, as the report also reveals several new Turkish flights to and from the airport, which have just been added.
According to the report the new Easyjet route between Edinburgh and Dalaman has started this week, and new Turkish Airlines route between the airport and Istanbul is due to start soon according to the report. These are just some of the new routes coming online between Turkey and the UK this year.
Even before the new routes, Easyjet offers the most seats out of Edinburgh, but Ryanair offers more non-stop destinations out of the airport than any other carrier, including many routes to Turkish airports.
Edinburgh Airport is Scortland’s busiest and the sixth biggest in the UK, behind Luton, but well ahead of Birmingham in terms of passenger numbers. Whoever takes over the airport, it is unlikely they will change the recipe very much, because if something ain’t broke you don’t fix it.
