A new wind blowing through Turkey

Posted on 13 April 2012

Istanbul, 28 March 2012 – Turkey’s Alke Insaat has announced a new Joint Venture company with the US company TPI Composites, one the world’s most advanced composite wind turbine blade manufacturers. A new 33,000 square metre factory in Turkey’s west coast port of Izmir will employ 350 workers. Turkey is actively seeking to reduce its demand on imported oil and gas and is rapidly expanding its renewable energy production through attractive feed in tariffs and large scale wind farms. Currently Turkey has over 1,700 MW of installed wind energy capacity which it expects to increase to 20,000 MW over the next 10 years. Source: Invest in Turkey
