Posted on 13 April 2012

Istanbul, 26 March 2012 – With Turkey’s natural gas consumption dramatically increasing the Russian energy company Gazprom is investigating the construction of natural gas storage facilities in Turkey. According to a Gazprom spokesman “Whenever Turkey has had any problems with other natural gas providers, it has always looked to Gazprom to supply the needed natural gas”. Last year Gazprom had to use its natural gas reserves to supply Turkey’s increasing demands and was supplying up to 38 million cubic metres per day to Turkey. Turkey’s natural gas consumption is now running at over 39 billion cubic metres per annum. Source: Invest in Turkey
