Spain's Costa Blanca gets even more appealing as air access improves further

As Spain enjoys a record year for tourism, reaching the Costa Blanca from the UK is set to get easier after a host of airlines announced new services into Alicante Airport, the main gateway to the region.

Budget carrier Ryanair has revealed that from next summer it will increase flights to Alicante and both Newcastle and Leeds Bradford to daily. Scottish passengers will also welcome the launch in February 2017 of Ryanair’s new service to Alicante from Aberdeen. The airline also confirmed that its winter schedule will include a service to Alicante from Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, June saw the launch of a new British Airways service to Alicante from London City – ideal for second homeowners in the Costa Blanca who work in London and want to nip over to Spain for a long weekend.

Said Matthew Hall, Chief Commercial Officer at London City Airport: “Alicante is the gateway to a stunning part of the Spanish Mediterranean and an excellent addition to our offer of leisure destinations this summer. From the conveniently located London City Airport, passengers can escape on this British Airways service to the buzz of balmy nightlife and café culture or the relaxation of Costa Blanca beaches and a round of golf. With flights four times a week, our quick check in, close proximity to central London, and a flight time of just two and a half hours, it’s never been easier to get to this popular sunny getaway.”

These new flights make property in the Costa Blanca, which includes the resorts of Denia, Javea and Moraira in the north, and Torrevieja, Campoamor, Punta Prima and Cabo Roig in the south, even more appealing to second homeowners and investors in Spanish property.
