Turkey & US expects doubling of trade by 2014

Istanbul, 19 April 2012 - Speaking at a recent event organised by Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists and Center for American Progress in Washington, John Bryson, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, said Turkey and the US have started seeing the fruits of closer business relationship. “Ankara's goal to push Turkey into the top 10 economies by its centennial in 2023 - the ‘10 by 23’ plan - is an entirely plausible target” commented Bryson. Bilateral trade between the 2 countries reached a record 20 billion USD and both countries are looking to double the figure by 2014. Bryson said that both countries bring strengths to the relationship saying “Turkey has strong access to European markets, as well as those in North Africa and the Middle East. And here in the United States, for example, we have a strong patent system and deep supply chains”. Source: Invest in Turkey
