What is the area like?
Yalikavak is positioned on the north of the Bodrum peninsula, it is host to one of the three marinas in Bodrum and it is surrounded by posh boutiques and restaurants.
Yalikavak has a small, but busy town centre and a harbour where fishing boats are moored and it is possibly the most upmarket resort along the Bodrum Peninsula.
There is a wide selection of bars, cafes and restaurants in the town centre and on the seafront that attracts many locals and tourists. Yalikavak history goes parallel with that of Bodrum. The ancient city of Yalikavak was located inland on one of the hills which is called Sandima and today the remains and the restorations can be seen. In today’s Yalikavak, a few tombstones and the old city walls still bear witness to the history of the town.
Yalikavak is now home to the new prestigious Palmarina, which plays host to some fantastic yachts and boats and it is open all year round. Stroll around the designer shops, if you feel like joining the jet set; visit the New Billionaire's Club, only the second in Turkey after Istanbul, mixing contemporary style and luxury, with top quality service and great music atmosphere.
Gumusluk is steeped in history. Here you can still see a number of reminders of the area's historical past with the stadium, theatre and walls surviving from ancient Myndos and a Byzantine church, which today is restored as a cultural centre. On top of the hill, there are the remains of Kadikalesi (Kadı Castle), a Hellenistic fortification, together with a Roman church and cistern.
You can snorkel or scuba-dive in the clear waters of Gumusluk and discover for yourself the ancient ruins of Myndos. This is one of the few places on the peninsula that has been awarded a blue flag.
The seafront area here is famous for its seafood restaurants and great tea gardens; it is the perfect spot for a lovely evening out.
