What is the area like?
Yalikavak is well known for being an upmarket resort on the Bodrum Peninsular, The resort is small, however, it is host to shops, restaurants, bars and everything you need is here.
Yalikavak history goes parallel with that of Bodrum. The ancient city of Yalikavak was located inland on one of the hills which is called Sandima and today the remains and the restorations can be seen close by. In today's Yalikavak, a few tombstones and city walls still bear witness to the history of the town. Several old buildings such as old water cisterns and olive oil presses have been restored and there are art galleries and showrooms for hand-woven kilim/carpets. Today, though the cobbled streets still remain in the old part of the town, where you will still find plenty to see and do. You can sit by the old harbour, or sit in the traditional council tea gardens on the water’s edge, if you linger into the evening you will see the lovely sunsets which it is still famous for.
