Weather in Turkey – Turkish climate
Turkey is a warm and inviting country in more ways than one, it is an established holiday resort for many reasons; however one main factor in particular is the favourable climate. As with most countries the south coast is warmer and these are where the main holiday resorts can be found. There are 81 cities which are all located into 7 specific regions – Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Black Sea, Central Anatolia, Eastern Anatolia and Southeast Anatolia.
The majority of holiday makers and property for sale in Turkey investors head to the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean regions so we will concentrate on those areas for the weather and climate reports.
Turkey has on average 300 days of sunshine per year which is around 2440 hours with warm spring times, hot dry summers and mild winters. The misconception is that Turkey does not have 4 seasons, it does. However the climate is typically Mediterranean with lot of sunshine, mild temperatures during the winter months and limited rainfall in the winter.

The Marmara region – Bursa, Istanbul, Izmit and Yalova
The Marmara regions average air temperature in the winter is 5°C and reaches 25°C in the summer.
In Marmara the winter sea temperature is 9°C and during the summer 23°C.
The Aegean region – Akbuk, Altinkum, Bodrum and Kusadasi
The Aegean average air temperature ranges from its lowest 12°C in the winter months to summer highs of 33°C.
The average sea temperature in the Aegean in winter is 11°C and summer is 26°C.
The Mediterranean region – Alanya, Antalya, Belek, Fethiye, Kalkan and Side
The Mediterranean area average air temperature is 15°C at its lowest in the winter to a summer sizzler of 34°C.
The Mediterranean Sea temperature in the winter is 17 °C whilst the summer is 28°C.

The summer season in Turkey is from May to October with the best months to visit June, July, August and September for maximum sunshine and the hottest temperatures. However you may find sightseeing uncomfortable at those times, if you are a keen sightseer then visit April, May or October when it’s a little cooler.
