Guide to Ciudad Quesada

Ciudad Quesada is very appealing as a holiday destination it offers a peaceful environment, in a lovely area. Ciudad Quesada is a district in the southern area of Rojales in the province of Alicante in mainland Spain. Although happily situated inland it is a mere 6 km from the deep blue Mediterranean Sea and only 3 km from the sandy beaches of Guardamar, El Moncayo and La Mata. The popular beaches of Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa are a little further away and it’s just 8 km inland from the Costa Blanca at Guardamar de la Segura. Many of the beaches here have been given the prestigious award of Blue Flag status including the beaches of Torrevieja, Guardamar del Segura, and Santa Pola which are all within a 15-minute drive. This lovely area is lush with plenty of greenery giving a feeling of space and tranquility and it’s surrounded by golf courses which add to the openness.

A must visit is to the Torrevieja Salt Lagoons it’s classed as being the “most amazing place to see in the Ciudad Quesada area” This protected Natural Park is immense it is 3,700 hectares of unique vegetation, birds, flamingos and salt water. The water and mud of these lagoons are excellent for ones health and have been around since Roman times. The wildlife is captivating and the sunsets are breathtaking with the backdrop of the glistening salt mountains.

Ideally located are the airports of Alicante and Murcia which are just 50 km away. The climate is Mediterranean of course and welcomes around 3,000 hours of sunshine each year where the temperature exceeds a balmy 20 degrees. In 1986 the World Health Organisation recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world meaning it’s neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter.

On average it boasts 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round holiday destination. The glorious game of golf is very popular in this area as it’s literally surrounded by golf courses. Avid golfers flock here for many reasons, the sunshine is a major factor, the amount of golf they can play and the many excellent golf courses in the area including La Finca, La Marquesa, Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Colinas Golf and close by are the larger cities of Alicante and Murcia where the choice is immense. The championship courses are a golfers dream and the clubhouses and fine dining restaurants add to their desire to visit here. However, let’s not forget that this area is more than just a golfer’s paradise; families will have great fun at the water park in Ciudad Quesada with an abundance of rides and slides it’s a super day out.

There are plenty of shops, market, bars and restaurants to be found in Ciudad Quesada so you don’t have to venture out of the area if you don’t want too. Vibrant Torrevieja is close by and it’s a nice day out whether you visit during the day or go for the evening. Shopping is high on the agenda in Torrevieja with plenty of shopping malls with trendy boutiques, souvenir shops and daily markets. The cuisine is typically that of the Costa Blanca region, fish features heavily on the menus, alongside rice, fruit and olive oil. Visitors find all the entertainment they need here especially in the El Baluarte and La Punta areas, tourists congregate here from all over the world and this is where you come to for a vast array of excellent bars, cafes and restaurants and a vibrant, lively nightlife.
