Moraira is a picture perfect upmarket old fishing town which is located on the Costa Blanca coastline of Spain and if you are looking for the ideal family-friendly resort you have found it. With its dramatic mountain backdrop and its sandy and rocky beaches with hidden coves waiting to be explored, it’s the perfect family getaway. This unspoilt resort on the Costa Blanca has 8km of coastline which is sheltered by the mountains and it’s a haven offering peace and quiet with unspoilt coastal views in this lovely little town.

There are plenty of landscapes to admire with 2,000 hectares being cultivated and 1,000 hectares of vineyards growing Muscatel grapes for winemaking. The vineyards are away from the coast in the hills as the climate there is a little cooler. It’s a super location as Moraira is in the La Marina which is in between Alicante 80 km to the south and Valencia 108 km to the north. If you fancy visiting further afield why not head to Barcelona which is Spain’s second largest city for a few days to immerse yourself in its rich history it is 438 km to the north of Moraira. There is a wonderful choice of beaches with 8 to choose from and many of them have been awarded the Blue Flag status and it’s super for water sports enthusiasts. Moraira is a great base in which to explore the Costa Blanca coast with beautiful little villages and towns dotted all long it or venture inland a little to see the tranquil small Spanish authentic style villages and how they live.

The closest airport is Alicante just 74.94 km away and the climate is a temperate one which means there are no extreme hot and cold changes between summer and winter. Calpe is just 12 km south and there is a large shopping area here which is ideal for those times small town shopping isn’t enough. Altea 29 km south is an old Spanish town of winding streets and full of character, several marinas and there is also a golf course for the keen golfers. Javea 12 km north has the old town, the port and the Arenal which is the beach area this is another town which is popular with ex-pats from the UK. Benissa is 12 km inland a lovely Spanish market town with a rather grand church in one of its many squares. If sailing is your passion then head to Denia 24kms north it has a large yacht marina, castle and you can hop on the Hydrofoil and visit Ibiza in 90 minutes.

Shop until you drop in Guadalest 32 km inland where you can buy a variety of leather goods, fabrics and ceramics. Visit the castle and small chapel for beautiful mountain scenery. The Jalon Valley is 22 km inland famous for its almond and citrus trees and amazing authentic Spanish restaurants serving delicious traditional cuisine. Further afield is Benidorm 40 km south with an array of nightlife, Alicante 80 km south a pretty city where the promenade is paved with palm trees and a magnificent old cathedral. The Lemon Train runs from here to Denia it’s a 5-hour journey of magnificent scenery and is one of Europe’s great train journeys. Valencia is 108 km north with its old city centre full of historic buildings including one of Spain’s oldest cathedrals.

There is a wonderful array of bars, cafes and restaurants that can be found in the centre of Moraira town along with a superb range of local shops. At the marina, there is an excellent selection of seafood restaurants.
